The flower gardens of William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow, North East London
A beautiful Georgian mansion in Walthamstow North East London, the William Morris Gallery, offers an extensive garden, a large park, thought provoking exhibitions and a breathtaking venue for your wedding. We have pulled together this guide to help you find out more information about the gallery, and to give you an idea of the wedding photography experience if you decide to choose us as your photographers.
A history of William Morris Gallery
William Morris Gallery is a public gallery in Walthamstow, devoted to the designer, craftsman and radical socialist William Morris. This 1740s Grade II listed building was once Morris’ family home, and now displays the world’s largest collection of his work, alongside contemporary exhibitions and an active events and learning programme.
If you decide to book the gallery, you’ll be standing alongside royalty and former Prime Ministers. The Gallery was opened in 1950 by Prime Minister Clement Attlee, and was then visited by Queen Mary.
What can I expect from a William Morris wedding?
Fun, cosy and charming are the first words we use to describe weddings at William Morris Gallery. The Georgian front of building will take your breath away, has a beautiful rose garden and is next to Lloyd Park. The garden is a charming place to take photos, and you can go slightly further afield to the water works in Lloyd Park. There is also a food market at Lloyd Park on Saturday’s from 10am-4pm.
Which room should I choose?
There are three rooms to choose from: the Acanthus Room, Story Lounge and Glasshouse Cafe, which can accommodate 40, 55, and 50 people accordingly.
In terms of how your room selection will determine your wedding photography, you will have access to the grounds of the gallery for any room you book. However, please note that accessibility to Acanthus Room is limited through narrow stairs and one elevator. All rooms are well lit and spacious enough for a medium sized and intimate wedding.

What types of photos can I expect to be captured on the day?
The William Morris Gallery is the perfect setting to capture a mix of outdoor and indoor photos on your special day. There’s the beautiful front entrance, the unique step balcony, as well as the rooms themselves. The gallery of images below are our favourites from Rosie & Maciej’s wedding.
How much time should we accommodate for photos?
We recommend you book at least three hours if you want photos of you arriving, the ceremony, around the grounds and the park following your ceremony.
